A Childhood Dream, Built One Plate at a Time
Welcome to Player's, where you get the experience of a larger city sports bar — right in the heart of the South Shore.
As a kid, one of Jacqui Berardi's favorite places was the commercial-grade kitchen her grandfather built off the back of her grandparents' split-level home. It always smelled of something delicious, and it brought him joy to bring people together over good food. She knew from an early age she wanted to own a restaurant.
Jacqui earned a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management from Newbury College and studied Mediterranean diet and nutrition in Florence and Barcelona. She worked as a hostess and bartender in Boston's North End, trained in kitchens across Italy and Spain, and fell in love with event planning as lead bartender at the Liberty Hotel.
Since taking ownership of Player's in 2012, she's become a fixture of the South Shore community — bussing tables, delivering plates of wings, and handing out Hoodsie cups to hockey kids after a big game. Her son Nico, once a baby in a bouncer behind the bar, now helps run orders himself.
